I am nobody special, just a garden-variety Christian.  I am not a Bible scholar.  There’s no team of experts behind me.  The information presented on this site is just one Christian’s understanding of the issues.  For more expert information, I will refer you to the writers and teachers who have influenced me so that you can dig deeper for yourself.

I was raised in a Christian home, and was probably being taken to church by the time I was a month old.  I made my own decision to accept Christ a couple of months before my sixth birthday.  That’s very young, I know.  But I was old enough to understand “Jesus wants to come into your heart” and to answer “Yes, I want Him to”.

As I grew up and encountered others without that rich background, I started questioning.  I didn’t want an inherited faith; I wanted to be sure for myself.  I wanted to have answers to the difficult questions of Christianity.

So, each time I was challenged or had a question, I researched.  And each time I did, I found that the foundation continued to hold firm.  Sure, there is plenty that I can’t fully understand.  But what I do understand forms a coherent worldview.  It consistently explains everything from the physical/biological world to why bad stuff happens and upsets us to why good stuff also happens. It answers why we search for purpose in our lives, and wonder what (if anything) happens when we die.

I have an aversion to “church-y” cliches.  I am trying throughout this site to present the same old Gospel story in normal language.  God hasn’t changed; neither has His message to us.  But hopefully the more casual phrasing will make it accessible to a new audience.

I am convinced that every single human being who has ever lived is both Infinitely Valuable to God and Individually Responsible to Him.  As you read the questions, answers, and other information on this site, I hope that you will realize your own value and responsibility.  My prayer is that doing so will lead you to accept Jesus’ gift for yourself.

I hope that by asking “Why?” and giving my “Because…”, I can explain my faith in a friendly, non-threatening format.
