These articles define Christian doctrines and the reasoning behind them.
Christian, tell me why do you insist that God wants faith more than works, when Paul told the Philippians to “work out your salvation with fear and trembling”?
Christian, tell me why does James say that faith must include works, but Paul says that we are saved by faith and NOT by works?
Christian, tell me why should we be on the lookout for “false prophets”? Who are they, and what harm can they do?
Christian, tell me why is Jesus such a big deal? Other religions also have founders that they revere. The Jews already worshipped God. Why do Christians add worship of Jesus as well?
Christian, tell me why does the Bible talk so often about a coming “Day of the Lord”. What is supposed to happen on that day?
Christian, tell me why are there so many religious pictures showing both a lion and a lamb? What is the significance of the two animals together?
Christian, tell me why are you so determined to be “spiritual” that you turn off your mind?
Christian, tell me why do you talk about harvesting souls? People are not crops!
Christian, tell me why do you talk about “Common Grace”? What’s common about it, and how does it differ from un-common grace?
Christian, tell me why does God expect us to be perfectly righteous before He accepts us? That’s unreasonable. He’s impossible to please!
Christian, tell me why do you say some people are fools, even when their life is doing just fine? It’s your God who is foolish, with that “love your enemies” nonsense!
Christian, tell me why do we need to be shown our sin? Wouldn’t sin be pretty obvious?
Christian, tell me why has God so made so many laws we are expected to obey? Nobody can follow all those rules!
Christian, tell me why are there so many different denominations? Can’t you all get along?!
Christian, tell me why are there so many creeds and catechisms? Can’t you make up your mind what you believe? Why do you insist that everyone believe the same scripts?
Christian, tell me why do you say that Pride is such a bad thing? It’s normal to hope for praise when we do something well. What’s wrong with that?
Christian, tell me why do you continue to trust God even when your world is falling apart? If He was really there, and really loved you, wouldn’t He protect you from everything bad?
Christian, tell me why wouldn’t everyone want to be a Christian? If everything about Jesus is goodness and light, is there a downside?
Christian, tell me why do you say we have “original sin”? What is original about it? Are you talking about Adam and Eve?
Christian, tell me why do you praise God equally for both success and failure in your life?
Christian, tell me why do you say that our identity comes from God?
Christian, tell me why did Jesus say that it is easier for a camel to go thru the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven? That makes no sense!
Christian, tell me why did Jesus say that His listeners would see the end of time? Obviously, they didn’t! Did He lie, or was He wrong?
Christian, tell me why did Jesus curse an innocent fig tree just for not having fruit when it wasn’t in season? That seems like a petty tantrum!
Christian, tell me why did Jesus talk about a “narrow way” and a “wide way”? What did He mean?
Christian, tell me why do you bother to pray? Think of all the times that you haven’t been answered, like when you ask for healing but the person dies anyway. What happened to “Ask, and you shall receive”?
Christian, tell me why did Jesus talk about throwing “pearls before swine”? What are the pearls, and who are the swine?
Christian, tell me why is God sometimes called the “Hound of Heaven”? What does a hound dog have to do with God?
Christian, tell me why do you say that you were predestined to be one of the elect, special chosen ones? That seems awfully arrogant. It also makes it seem like no one has a real choice whether to become a
Christian or not.
Christian, tell me why do you say that you are “called”? Called what?
